REVIEW: Downtown Brown, man.

The other day the Captain needed some flavor to savor. Some beer flavor. So I went out seeking a fine, dark roasted ale. In the beer aisle (where I keep most of my things and furniture and such anyway) my eyes fell upon a beer I’d had about a year ago. Lost Coast Brewery’s “Downtown Brown.”
It’s a damn fine beer. Very malty. Light on the hops. You’d expect that, and you get it, balanced beautifully. It’s a smoooooth beer. Light in mouthfeel but big on flavor. The aromas that greet your schnoz (sp?) are malt and kind of a nice subtle nuttiness… maybe a hazel nut? Maybe not? You think you’re tough, man? Huh? HUH!? Whoa dude… I was just… hey I was kidding, man! Just… just… WAAAAAUUUGH!!!!
OK… I’m better now. Read on… fellah…
OK, so this beer has won some nice awards in case you don’t believe the good ‘ol Captain. Check out their site. But then come back to this one.

And now that you’re back, tell all of your friends about this site. And tell them all to send me 3 dollars. And a single pine cone.
Anyway, nutty, malty smell. Slightly nutty… BIG MALT sip.. but still smooth… lighter and more refreshing than most brown ales but still oh so tasty with just a bit of hop tingle on the goodbye swallow. Fine work as usual, Lost Coast.
