REVIEW: G. Menabrea E Figli
By Admiral Ale on Oct 16, 2007 in Brew Reviews
Greetings all. I may have been MIA for a bit, but now I am triumphantly back and ready for action.
Most recently, I found myself on vacation in Venice, Italy. While I was meandering the city’s labyrinth of alleys, i found myself at “Flaschetteria Toscana” enjoying this beer.
The G. Meabrea E Figli is a “birra blonde” brewed in Biella, Italy since 1847, and so it is enjoying its 150th anniversary (edit: I know the date is off, but this is what the bottle claims…).
The beer possesses a light taste reminiscent of a Belgianthat leaves you with a bitter (And decidedly Domestic) aftertaste. Perhaps the flavoring is due to the corn present in the formula… It possesses a 4.8% alcohol rating, and nicely complemented the rich dinner I was enjoying at the time.
While one’s Venetian vacation may be better accompanied with Bellini’s, this brew provided me with a welcome window into another Italian beverage.
Good to have you back, Admiral. But doesn’t this beer sound kind of like a lymphatic disorder or something? Doctor, his acute G. Menabrea E Figli has spread to his nodes! We need 20 CCs of Elgin Marbles, stat!
Yeah that’s right… Elgin Marbles. Read a book.
Also, why is the Admiral always “finding [him]self” places rather than just going places? Is he really that drunk all the time?

Do the math. What’s 1847 plus 150? Not 2007.

thanks, however, this is what the bottle claims… either the beer has been sitting around for ten years, i can’t read, or they are wrong. all are possible.
