Hey! Check this out!

Friends, I just learned something I found most interesting! (not… not related to this image… that’s just a cheap eye-catcher…)
Anyway, here’s a bit of trivia for ya! Keeeeeep reading!
“English pubs used to bake a whistle into the rims of their beer mugs as a way for customers to order more beer, hence the phrase, ‘wet your whistle.’”*
Awesome, huh? And much more practical (and surely less annoying) than simply saying “bartender, another please.” No, instead those wacky Brits were all:
Slightly Drunk Patron: “My beer mug is empty! Hmm, well I still want more beer to drink… I suppose I must bring this situation to the attention of the fellow who serves the beer. This handy whistle awkwardly built into the side of my mug for that very purpose should do the trick! BHWEEEEEEEEEEE!!!! BHWEEEEEE!!!”
Bartender: “Christ what a stupid idea that was.”
Slightly drunk patron: “BHWEEEEE!!! BHWEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE!!!!”
Yeah. Wet yer own whistle, bub.

I was trying to picture what this mug looked like. I’ll have to try to remember to bring a whistle with me next time I’m at the pub.
